birdie lampshade

I finished Rosa's birdie lampshade today, Using all scraps I cut approximately 1.5 cm strips of any girly fabric I could get my hands on and just started wrapping and wrapping and wrapping. Pretty soon I ended up with this...............the lampshade was thrifted and already a gorgeous shape, now the fabric just makes it all the more prettier.  The birdie pattern was found here and is super simple.  I also used thin strips and plaited them to make the string to hang the birds from.

And finally a pic of Rosa's room, after all I did name my blog after it and I don't think I have ever shown a full picture of it. Always a work in progress and ever evolving....next up white walls.

  1. What a lovely idea for a lamp shade!!! Something I will have to keep in mind if I ever see a gorgeous lamp in a op shop down the track. And a gorgeous little girls bedroom too :)

  6. Love the lampshade, what an inspired and colourful idea. Her room is gorgeous, I really like the pale mint wall colour- can I ask what the colour shade is- I am wanting to repaint Liongirl's room and am undecided on white or a pale green. I really like that shabby cupboard , looks great with your lamp. melx

  8. So pretty, I have to put up with boy rooms and their demands for lego and spiderman everywhere! (Do you hide her less aesthetically pleasing toys when in the cupboard? I know I would!). The lampshade is lovely, and goes perfectly in the room.
