The white debate.

The back renovation is moving along quite nicely, we got some painting done over the last couple of days and oh what a task it is choosing white. I have had samples on the walls for a week, too scared to jump into it.....will it be too cold?....will it be too yellow?. We finally opted for Dulux Antique White USA.   A popular choice by many, or so google tells me.  After finishing the first coat at 1130pm last night, we decided we made the wrong choice.  I have been texting friends and messaging fellow bloggers to find the perfect white. What's your favourite white?

  1. Hi, just saw your comment over at Ivy's nest and cme over to say hi! I am going through the exact same thing at my house too. Wanted a pure warmish white that was not grey or yellow or peach. I have ended up going with Natural white and so far am really liking it. I have done one corner of a room and figure I'll live with it for a day or so to be sure in all the different lights but so far so good. I liken it to full cream milk. I tried White on White but it was too blueish/stark and Whisper White (which lots of people seem to like was too greyish/yellow). I'll be posting photos tomorrow if you want to take a peek. Good luck and keep slapping it on until it looks right- that's my philosophy! Mel:).

  2. I adore white interiors!..we painted our home in Brisbane white...it was a Dulux colour but I can't remember the name. I am also fond of painting my thrifted furniture white too :)
Good luck in finding a shade of white that appeals to you, the choices are endless.

  3. Just looked back through your blog- your quilts are beautiful, as are all the dresses you have made Rosa. Very inspiring. Had a giggle as we too just had an Easter tree and I have been oggling that cockatoo fabric at Beach Vintage as well but have banned myself from buying any until I get my sewing machine out!. Also your op shop finds are Super- are you in Sydney? Mel.

  4. Hi Marls, did you try Whisper White? What don't you like about the Antique White? I will look at what our hall white is, as I quite like that. Might be too stark for your back room though. Kye x

  5. Kye,
I love Antique White but as my ceilings are quite low and sloped, they make the AW look a bit yellow next to them. Natural White seems to be much whiter, we have just tried it in half strength. I do hope I haven't go too far the other way. I don't want too stark.

  7. If you're after a true white, we simply buy our paint without any tint added. Can't get much whiter than that!! Congrats on the renos...hope everything is going swimmingly. :)

  8. It's much harder than I thought choosing paint colours and I've noticed there are soooo many shades of white to choose from. We just recently painted our office ceiling in natural white which is a lovely shade of white not too white but not too cream either. Goodluck with the paint choosing. xo
