Flea Market Finds

Holly Hobbie is definitely the flavour of the week for my op shop finds this week. I don't think there would be a 30+ old female out there who doesn't have a soft spot for this sweet little icon .  I found this tiny vase in vinnies and a friend found the little wall hanging knowing my love for all things vintage, they are traditional HB and so sweet. The melamine plate isn't HB but for only $1 I couldn't resist.

Some Holly Hobbie inspired linen, the single sheet was brand new still in plastic, I'm going to turn it into a doona cover for Rosa. The pillow cases were also from my friend. I adore the girly innocent designs. 

I've also been finding lots of colourful metal zips perfect for my new project using my vintage linens.

Piles

I have many piles of creativity on the go at the moment. It's all getting a little over whelming as I want to jump into all of them at once. I find myself starting one thing then loosing concentration and putting another pile of fabrics together. I'm just playing around at the moment but what I really need to do is get some serious sewing done so I can cross some off my list.

Maybe this time next week I'll have lots to show you. Here's hoping anyway.

Flea Market Finds

I seem to be finding so much for Rosa's bed at the moment.  A shame you don't find the best bed linen for boys.  This Sheridan floral is like new and so pretty. It was a flat sheet which someone has made into a fitted. Gotta love that! The cotton gingham duvet cover and pillow case was found for a bargain. I also found the crisp cotton flat white as well.

I found this square table cloth in Wagga, I love the peach and aqua together.

Knowing my love for milk glass my mum stole found this miniature candle holder at my Grandma's house.  I love the hobnail, just like the rest of my collection and so nice that it came from Grandma's. I know she doesn't know I have it but I'm sure she'd be happy to see that I love it and have it displayed on my mantle of special things. 

Yet another piece of aqua pyrex. I paid $5 for this little cup and saucer and I just love the colour and tiny gold rim.  Another one of my country oppy finds was this white jug and sugar bowl (minus the lid). My mum tried to talk me out of it but the rainbow reflection was calling me and I couldn't leave it there.

Rosa is pretty happy with it, the double handles makes for a perfect cup for her hot chocolates and now even the boys are fighting over it.

Vintage Goodness

Look at this bunch of vintage fats which landed on my doorstep yesterday. To say I'm happy with my loot would be an understatement.  I looooove the top brown rose one the best followed by the aqua stripe with black dots a close second. Thanks lovely ladies who joined in and a big thanks to Kel from Green tea and Red nails. To say that you could not fit them all in your car at once just goes to show the enormity of the task of sorting and posting. Well done you!

I have about six sewing projects on the go at the moment but I have a little something in mind with my new brown rose................more sewing time needed me thinks.

Thrifty Goods

My pyrex collection is certainly growing with a few pieces in gorgeous blues and shiny white. This blue beauty was $12, a tad pricey but had to have it. Below the dessert bowls were only $1 and the white Fridgie with lid in perfect condition was $5.  

I adore these sweet dessert bowls in a rainbow of colours, so shiny and new.....trifle anyone?  $2 each

I have to share the story about these little frosted gold and pastel tumblers which I am also in love with.  I was lurking close to the back room of Vinnies on the week end when I heard one the old dears saying "trust me they are from the 60's, I'm telling you......  put $2 each on them, they are real goers and wont last long, give them a little wash and they'll come up a treat"  I couldn't see what they were talking about but of course I couldn't leave without knowing so I had a little peak in the back room and spotted them. I patiently waited at the front counter and the lady bought them out ready to be priced, another lady screwed up her face when the old dear said $2. I swooped and said I'll take them, no need to price them, thanks very much. Go and tell the other dear out the back how quickly you sold them I said.  We all laughed and I walked out one very happy girl...

My mum found the pretty rose oil painting and I found the fabulous gold mirror and another little tapestry yesterday, all for Rosa's room. I'm thinking a painting the frames white but the more I look at them the more I am taken with the gold.

All in all I'm pretty chuffed with this weeks finds, I'm playing along with Her Library Adventures, go take a peak.

A perfect day

Mother's day at my place we did a lot of this............

The thought of packing the family to go out was way too hard, a picnic in the sunny backyard and a long snooze in the sun was just what the doctor ordered. Hope all the mum's had a happy day, I certainly did.

Country Op Shops

What is it about country op shops? I managed to get to three in Wagga over the Easter break and they certainly did not disappoint . Apart from this gorgeous colourful Afghan I found in a Sydney Vinnie's for $15 everything else and more was found on my little jaunt in Wagga.  

 My eyes seriously popped when I spotted this little number and I just love it in my little corner of the lounge. Perfect for these chilly nights.

A little turned wooden pedestal platter. Those pears are normal size so the platter is quite small. I really love it. $2

A cute glass vase for my mounting collection of favourite things on my mantle. 50c 

Some sweet linens to chop up for a quilt which has been on the cards for some time. If I stopped using them for their intended purpose I might have enough by now. 

I adore this little tapestry, it was only $4 and was with another more boyish one, I so wish I had bought it too. I sent mum back a few days later and it had gone.  Rosa's is the next room to be painted white so when I'm done she will have a wall full of beautiful things.

This Pyrex coffee percolator came without it's middle but to tell you the truth I didn't even know it was for coffee, the handle is even made of Pyrex and I think it will make the best cold drinks jug. Later I saw them selling on ebay for up to $50, pretty chuffed mine only cost $2. Also some sweet English crockery. I love the black one and it was only $2 for the set.  The pretty bone china ones were $3 each and in beautiful condition.

I always have lots of fun in the country oppies, mainly because I shop with my mum and brother and sisters, so much more fun when you can share your finds with someone else. The people are always friendly and the prices are so so good.   For more Thrifty finds head over to Sophie's.
