A few kitchen things were to be found this week. Some great glass jars to house my tea and coffee.
I found this tin in Vinnie's for $2, the lovely lady next to me at the counter said I should use it for agar salads. Now my siblings will have a little chuckle when they read this. As kids, every Boxing day we would begrudgingly go to a luncheon at Betty's house. Betty was the sweetest old lady from our church who always put on a spread of meatloaf, cold meats and the finest of agar vegies. There was jello peas, jello carrot, jello beatroot....you get the picture. We would giggle away in the corner and never manage to eat any, I'm telling you, nothing was rolling off our plate.
I have no intention of using it for jello carrots but you can find the recipe here for Grandma's Sunshine Salad. Oh and sorry sis, not ironing the tea towel (also an op shop find) Who's got time for ironing tea towels and table cloths.
Some cute Arcoroc glass wear.
A wooden chip and dip platter straight from the 70's.
Fantastic finds! I too would be skipping the vegie jelly salads x

ReplyDeleteyou have the most wonderful eye! i love everything. that mustard pyrex screams awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteThat tin is fantastic! However, i do think a cake baked in it would be a lot more appetising than jello-vegies, lol.
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased to share that I have never been confronted by jellied vegies, well until your post that is. I now consider myself enlightened, and also relieved that it was only via blog and not in the flesh. Love the mustardy finds too- isn't it just a wonderful colour, I am completely hooked.melx
