We are doing some minor renovations at our house at the moment. My very handy hubby built us a deck and now we are about to add some lovely big windows and french doors kindly given to us by our very generous neighbours who are doing a major reno. What does this have to do with colourful kids you ask?..........well, I decided we that we wont be needing our back wall for too much longer and painting on paper is just not as much fun......they had a ball and couldn't believe their luck when I suggested that they paint on the wall.

A few new tops
Our friends in Bowral had twin girls a couple of months ago so I have made them a Blossom Blouse from the Sew Liberated book. Such a simple pattern and basic fabric dressed up with a hexagon each. I usually blanket stitch the hexes but I have machine stitched these and it worked a treat.

A very lucky find
So I got a text from my sister in Wagga today asking if I had given to Vinnies the little pink knitted cardi that mum made for her daughter 16 years ago. "No! I have it here" I said.
"OMG" she says "I have just bought one in Vinnies for $2 and it even has the same rose buttons that mum used, I was sure it must have been the same one".
Hmmmmmm I thought this was too much of a coincidence.......I immediately checked Rosa's wardrobe and it was not there. It had me thinking when she last wore it. It was in Wagga in May for her Christening. I had obviously left it at the church and after a few months they gave it to charity. My sister rarely visits this Vinnies and there must be around ten op shops in Wagga. It obviously was meant to be.

Question for the Hexy Ladies
While getting stuck into some hexagons this week end it had me thinking..........what size template should I use??? I used to cut my fabric two sizes up and have now advanced (if you can call it that) to one, however by the time I get around to my last edge I find it's a very tight squeeze. Maybe with lots of practise I will get it just right. How many sizes do you go up?

Bring on Spring
so we can start wearing more of this......
after the Ice Cream Sew Along I have well and truly caught the sewing bug, I have bought a couple more Oliver + S patterns and have muddled my way through some summer clothes for Rosa and friends.
A bit pink Honeycomb Kei was the perfect trim for this sweet Japanese print. This one is for our little two year old friend Lucia.....pattern is the Ice Cream Dress view C with added band.
There was certainly a lot of this going on while adding the piping and yoke to this Oliver + S Play Date dress. I got there in the end and was really pleased with the result. I have shortened the sleeves in this one but plan to make more with longer sleeves.
