Colouring in-style

Well I wouldn't exactly call it stylish but it is fun and colourful. I saw one of these cute little creations in the latest Vogue Living mag. It's a pencil roll. I have changed the style a little by adding quilt wadding to make it stiff and sewing seams all the way down the fabric.

As you can see Rosa loved it and she knew exactly where her colours needed to go.

SUNDAY STASH #11

Here is a couple of vintage pieces I bought off ebay about a year ago. They appear to be linen, the large one is actually a paisley print, very old and a little stained but very girly. Once again sorry for the late entry, Paul and I were lucky enough to get a week end away with out children. We were in Brisbane for a wedding and had the nicest time......thanks mum!

Beehive Blocks for Belinda

These are the October installment of our Beehive group for Belinda. This was a really large block 18.5". I really enjoyed working on such a large scale and the fabrics are really sweet. This will go into a single bed quilt for Belinda's little boy.

This is a 9.5" log cabin to go into the backing of the quilt.

And a bit of a practise run which I will make a cushion for Rosa to go with her Bab's quilt.

Piping and All

Whilst on school holidays at my mums, I decided it was time to learn for the second time how to make cushions. The zipper bit always seems to get me stumped. Well, under the guidance of my very crafty ma, I managed to whip these two beauties up. I really wanted to try piping for the first time, it worked really well. I'm so happy with the outcome. I have loved this Anna Maria Horner fabric for ages so it's nice to see some of my own handy work using it.

They brighten up my very monotone bedroom.

Note to self: Next time choose non stretch fabric for backing, it just seemed to grow and grow while sewing.
Tip: Stretch fabric however worked wonders on the piping as I didn't have to cut it on the bias.

Sneak peek for Lea

This is a king single quilt I've started for my friend Lea's little 4 year old Ollie. He picked the cowboys and Lea picked some of her favourites to go with it. It's 6 1/2 " squares. I will have it professionally quilted and bind it in the Amy Butler Lotus dots.

If you are wondering why all the cowboys in this section seem to have missing heads don't stress, I have moved them around a bit. This just gives you an idea. I hope you like!

SUNDAY STASH on Monday #10

Excuse me for no Sunday Stash last week. A trip away and sick children made it way too hard. This piece is called "Creatures and Critters" it's an Amy Schimle design for Robert Kaufman. I have had it for a while and am just waiting for a new baby to arrive to I can put it into a bubs quilt.

Not my baby by the way....someone elses!

SUNDAY STASH # 9

This weeks stash came from an ebay buy, it's a Japanese print which I can't remember the name of. The background which I thought was white turned out to be quite aqua, but I love it anyway.

Last of Mel's Beehive blocks

This is the third of my blocks for Mel for the Beehive group. Can't wait to see the finished quilt. Now to start on October's for Belinda - a much bigger block with a boyish theme.
